Instructions & Thank You
If you have come here by a link, thank you for helping us with Helena's Memorial Book.
You do not have to be in Smash Academy to leave words in this book. If Helena's story touched you in any way, then I am certain her parents and brothers would be touched by your kindness as well. Even just a few words, it's more than fine.
Helena Corro, who was a member of Smash Academy, passed on Thursday, March 29, 2012. Helena was only 23 years old, but suffered from a delicate health. Her funeral service was held this Tuesday (2nd of April) and thanks to your donations, we were able to get her a beautiful flower bouquet for her in less than a day. The contributions from the Role playing Community has been nothing short of amazing, and, perhaps, proof that despite everything, we are a tightly bound family.
This is, then, the second part of our honoring her memory, where everyone who wishes to remember the good memories she brought to all of us can come together and write up your thoughts, draw artwork and sing music for a good friend who touched us all. Please keep in mind that this book will be printed out professionally and sent to her family. If you wish to give them a message of strength in the hard times for everyone, please do so.
The format I have chosen will be a 8.5x11 sized book. Take a sheet of paper, and that will be the book's size. This will allow all of you to supply high-quality images and words and fit as many people as possible. There are no limitations to the number of page, I believe we have a sufficient funds to have more than a hundred pages, if it is needed.
Additionally, I will make a CD (or a DVD if it gets big enough) that includes all of the artwork. This is also for those who are musically and video inclined - if you wish to make a song or a musical piece for her, then I will be pleased to offer you the opportunity to do so.
POSTING METHOD
♥ All comments will be screened before they are posted publicly.
♥ The post will be anon enabled so if you know people who do not have DW and wish to contribute, they can as well.
♥ If you are posting an image or anything multimedia related, see the instructions below.
♥ If you are writing a word, simply use the journal to reply.
♥ Please provide your real name (no family name needed) when signing, along with your online alias/nickname if you so desire. This is for Helena's parents - just so they know who we all are. If you do not wish your name to be known publicly, reply a second time with your real name. I will make the edit in the book and keep it between the two of us.
♥ If you wish to keep your comments/artwork/etc private between Helena's family and myself, please write so at the end of your post. It will be kept screened and if there are any problems with it, I will contact you privately.
BOOK RULES
♥ TIME LIMIT IS APRIL 22ND, 2012. This will allow me to set up the book and then get it printed the week afterwards to send it out to her family so they can get it in very early May.
♥ Keep everything tasteful.
♥ Two pages maximum per person. Each page can be filled however you wish; words on one, a drawing on the other, a two paged comic, two artworks with words in them. Two is the maximum, you can only do one or half a page if you'd like.
SUPPLYING ARTWORK
♥ Grab this link. It is a 8.5x11 page with 300 DPI and includes the lines for the printing bleed supply. TRY TO KEEP EVERYTHING INSIDE THE INNER FRAME. You can still make your colors leak, but chances are, the printing will only print up to this part.
♥ Supply a linked to the zipped file. You can also send it to Pixled (at) gmail (dot) com with the title "Helena's Book"
♥ If you wish to use less than a page for your artwork, simply cut it off and I will combine it with the others.
♥ The image can be anything but please, please keep it tasteful (not that I am worried but I'm just making sure). You can also write words on it if you'd like.
♥ Confirm with me that I got your image once it is sent.
♥ If you wish, post a smaller version on imgur and post the link here for other people to see what you did.
SUPPLYING MUSIC | VIDEOS
♥ Send your music to Pixled (at) gmail (dot) com in MP3 format if possible.
♥ Send me the swf file if you sending me a flash animation.
♥ I believe gmail limits send videos to 100 megs, unfortunately, but talk to me if you plan on doing this and we'll work something out.
SUPPLYING WORDS
♥ Make a new post in this community with all you wish to say. I will collect them and combine them in the book itself.
♥ Make a second post with your name (without family if you wish) if you don't want your real name to be made public, that specific post will be kept locked
THANK YOU
♥ Finally, thank you for all your contributions and future ones. I am sure her family is touched by everyone's kind words, and I hope this book will give them a little more light in their lives. Helena was very important to us, and I feel honoring her memory like this will show everything that great people can touch the lives of many.
Now let's give the love she gave us back to her family, and show them how important she was to us.
Thank you again,
- Mélanie P (Pixle)
